Super Easy Golden Milk Turmeric Latte

by

Bright yellow in colour and used medicinally for centuries, turmeric is an incredibly antioxidant-rich spice packed with anti-inflammatory properties. You might think some of the ingredients are a little zany, but combining turmeric with black pepper and a good source of fat helps to unlock all the benefits of this heart-warming superfood.

Prep 2 mins, Cook 2 mins Yield 4 small serves/2 standard mugs

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (such as almond, coconut, macadamia, or non-GMO soy)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • tiny piece of fresh, peeled ginger root or ¼ tsp ginger powder
  • pinch of ground black pepper
  • pinch of cayenne pepper (if you like it with some zing)
  • 1 tsp sweetener or to taste (real maple syrup, rice malt syrup or raw honey are good options)

Method

  1. If you have a blender, throw all the ingredients in together and blend until smooth. This helps remove any powdery texture. Otherwise just mix the ingredients together in a saucepan.
  2. Heat to desired temperature in a small saucepan over medium heat. Don’t let it boil!
  3. Serve and enjoy. Pop a cinnamon stick in for some extra flavour and that barista-of-modern-beverages pizzazz.
